Liquid Heat opened in Casa Guayasmin in Havana today! I created a series of life size images of Cuban Popular dance – a vibrant sweep of colour and movement that went around the patio walls of Casa Guaysamin.
What an amazing day. The show opened with an introduction by Eugenio Chavez, as Director of the Festival de Danza en Paisajes Urbanos, the British Ambassador, and Santiago Alfonso, former Artistic Director of Tropicana, and collaborator on Liquid Heat. A big crowd showed up both international – from all over Latin America – and local. I was delighted – the images really struck a chord , people were delighted to see their own culture reflected back through a different lens. `it was an honour to bring this exhibit to life.
